Cricket Papua New Guinea, Sat Jun 3, 2017 3:34PM

SP Brewery announced the sponsorship renewal of K150,000 with Cricket PNG today at the SP Brewkettle.

SP Brewery Senior Brand Manager, Josh Wheeler made the announcement of the sponsorship extension under the SP Lager Brand of K150,000 to Cricket PNG for the support of the two (2) senior national cricket teams- Hebou PNG Barramundis and the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas.

Cricket PNG Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Greg Campbell was very grateful about this announcement.

“As you know, Cricket PNG have had a long partnership with SP in the past, when in 2005 SP became CPNG’s first major sponsor and then in 2008 SP became the naming rights of Cricket PNG’s first ever semi-professional cricket competition in the EAP Region- SP Super Series,” said Campbell.

“Last year under the Radler product, SP came back to sponsor Cricket PNG and became secondary sponsors to the HEBOU PNG Barramundis and the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas, becoming the Official Beer Sponsor of Cricket PNG,” said Campbell.

“The HEBOU PNG Barramundis won all their ICC WCLC matches against Kenya and Namibia, defeated Namibia in the ICC ICUP and finished a very respectable third place on 34 points with four (4) wins, three (3) draws and a single loss in the SACA Premier League,” said Campbell.

“The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas also had a very successful year, winning the ICC East Asia Pacific (EAP) Women’s Trophy in Samoa without losing a single match. This victory meant that they qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Sri Lanka in February, 2017,” said Campbell.

“This year promises to be another exciting year for Cricket PNG and our national cricket teams. We are very grateful to Stan Joyce, Josh (Wheeler) and the staff at SP for their sponsorship and partnership. SP has played a very valuable role over the past 12-18 months in ensuring that both our senior national teams excel at the highest level, and we hope that this continues in the future,” concluded Campbell.

Hebou PNG Barramundis and City Pharmacy PNG Lewas were on hand at the sponsorship announcement.
