City Pharmacy PNG Lewas finish their campaign with a huge loss to South Africa

The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas finished their ICC Women’s World Cup Quaifier campaign with a ten (10) wicket thrashing at the hands of South Africa at the NCC Ground today in Colombo, Sri Lanka.


Batting first, the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas were bowled out for only 76 runs in 32.4 overs. Brenda Tau was once again the top scorer for the City Pharmacy PNG Lewas with a gutsy 30 runs, while captain Pauke Siaka (17) was the only other batswomen to score in double figures. Meanwhile, S Ismail (2/13), S Luus (2/13) and Y Fourie (2/18) all picked up two (2) wickets each for the South Africans.


In reply, the South Africans had no troubles, chasing down the target in just 13.5 overs. City Pharmacy PNG Lewas tried four (4) different bowlers, but couldn’t break the South African opening partnership between L Wolvaardt (43*) and L Goodall (28*).


The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas fly back to Port Moresby on Wednesday after finishing bottom of Group B which included South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Scotland.
