HEBOU PNG Barramundis Back in Training
The HEBOU PNG Barramundis are back in full training, in preparation for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) matches against Kenya in May 2016.
The HEBOU PNG Barramundis resumed training this week after a three (3) week break after the ICC Inter-Continental Cup (I-Cup) fixture and three (3) T20 International (T20I) matches against Ireland in Townsville in January/February this year.
A refreshed HEBOU PNG Barramundis Captain, Jack Vare was very excited at the upcoming schedule against Kenya at training today.
“The boys are feeling good after our three weeks leave break following our game against Ireland in Townsville. We’re getting back into full training routines and going to the gym in preparation for the matches against Kenya. We’re also very excited to be playing our first international match in front of a home crowd on home soil,” said Vare.
HEBOU PNG Barramundis’ Head Coach and former New Zealand Test Cricketer, Dipak Patel is putting the squad through their paces in preparation for the Kenya.
“The boys are doing specific strength conditioning programs that are in line with ICC requirements,” said Patel.
“Though we are restricted by facilities (here in Port Moresby), our boys have gotten better. The preparation off the field will also play a big part on how well our boys perform against Kenya,” concluded Patel.
The HEBOU PNG Barramundis is scheduled to play Kenya in two (2) WCLC matches on Saturday 28th May and Monday 30th May at Amini Park in Port Moresby. After two (2) round of the ICC WCLC, the HEBOU PNG Barramundis are currently sitting in sixth place on four (4) points, while Kenya are in fifth place on six (6) points.
